9 Days until Wonders Never Cease

9 Days until Wonders
It's just 9 days until my new novel Wonders Never Cease is officially in bookstores. Readers are beginning to post reviews on their blogs and it's fun to read the early feedback. Shout out to Leslie Gosney for posting this kind review:

"This book is a great read. I actually couldn't put it down. Tim Downs really knows how to write. I had never heard of this author before, and now am looking forward to finding more novels by him. He helps connect you with each character and get "IN" the book. This book REALLY makes you think, and I was left wondering, "Am I Ready to Believe?" I believe so. Enjoy the story of Angels, Belief, Life, Drama, and Love."

You can read the rest of Leslie's review on her blog site. If you have a personal comment or review about Wonders, feel free to share it with others here!

BookSneeze! God bless you

Not long ago my publisher, Thomas Nelson, joined an online program called BookSneeze. BookSneeze offers a four-step deal to bloggers and wannabe book reviewers: 1. Sign up for a free account, 2. Choose a book from their available books and they send you a free (yes, FREE) copy, 3. Post a review of 200 words or more on your blog and a consumer website (like Amazon), and 4. Log in to BookSneeze and post a link to your review.

It's a great concept and it provides something very valuable for authors and publishers: an abundance of reader reviews. Critical reviews are always great (Publishers Weekly, et al) but there are so many books out there and so few professional reviewers to review them. Besides, we've all read critical reviews and disagreed with them; sometimes it's helpful to get the opinion of a reader more like yourself.

Reviews for Wonders Never Cease are beginning to appear on BookSneeze, so if you haven't visited their site yet, drop by and check it out. Who knows? You might be reviewing my next book--for free!

Get a free copy of my new book and tell others what you think

I've got a bit of a problem. Maybe you can help me out.

My next novel, Wonders Never Cease, is due out in less than two months--on May 11th. But Wonders Never Cease is not a Nick Polchak/Bug Man story like my last three novels: First the Dead, Less than Dead, and Ends of the Earth. What I have to figure out is how to convince dedicated Bug Man readers to try something very different. How do I do that?

And then it occurred to me: Maybe you can do it for me.

I happen to have about twenty Advanced Reader Copies of Wonders Never Cease. An ARC, if you're not familiar with the term, is a pre-publication copy of a book that publishers send out to reviewers and media outlets to help stir up publicity before the book officially releases.

So here's the deal I'm offering: I'll send you an ARC of Wonders Never Cease free of charge if you'll promise to write a recommendation for the book when you're finished--and I'll publish your comments on my blog or website for other readers to see.

But here's the catch: You'll have to do three things fast. You'll have to respond to this offer fast because I only have twenty copies to give away; you'll have to read the book fast so you can write that recommendation; and you'll have to write your recommendation fast so I can publish it in time for other readers to see it prior to the release of the book!

I can't think of a better way to recommend a book than to let readers do it for me. And if you're one of those readers who's been waiting for my next book to come out, well, here's your chance to read it before anyone else.

Interested? Just use the form below to let me know. And thanks!

Wonders Never Cease

It's been quite a while since I've published a blog post, so I thought I'd break back into it by letting everyone know about my latest novel, Wonders Never Cease, scheduled for release May 11th from Thomas Nelson. For those of you eagerly awaiting the next installment in my Bug Man series you might be a little disappointed, because this is not a Bug Man novel--but I'm sure you won't be disappointed in this story.

It's still almost two months until the book releases, so I don't want to tell you everything about it just yet--just a few details to whet your appetite. I came up with the idea for this story several years ago, but I was so busy working on Bug Man stories that I never got around to writing it. I finally sat down to write it two years ago, but just as i was finishing it my publisher asked for another Bug Man story instead. So I immediately began writing Ends of the Earth and Wonders Never Cease has been sitting on a shelf awaiting publication ever since.

Well, it's finally coming out, and I can't wait.

Wonders is a very creative story that I like to describe as part comedy and part romance--that's right, romance. A man writing romance...scary thought, isn't it? And if romance is not your thing, then just think of it as a comedy. If you've enjoyed the humor in some of my Bug Man stories, you're really going to like this one. Believe me, it was a lot of fun to write.

But Wonders Never Cease isn't just a comedy; it has some very serious and thoughtful themes in it. I think that's how humor works best--to illuminate a serious theme.

I'll be telling you more about Wonders in the weeks to come, but for now I just wanted to tell you it's coming and give you a peek at the cover. I'd love to hear what you think of it, so please post a comment and give me your opinion. Thanks!
